This project is a case study for the Mi Band 4 smart band. The project involves user interviews to identify weak points in the design and a proposal for a new UI based on the interview results
The project was initiated by running a questionnaire within the study group to understand users’ goals and expectations when using the Mi Band device and to gather their opinions on what is good and what can be improved. Based on the questionnaire results a user interview has been conducted where the participants were presented with 4 tasks to complete.
After each task I have recorded the participants’ time to complete that task as well as the number of steps it took them to complete the task. Participants’ opinions have been gathered after every task has been completed. After analysing the questionnaire and user interviews, I identified that the participants were mainly dissatisfied with the number of steps needed to complete each task.
After the results have been analysed I've redesigned the UI of the device to match the user needs and I've also implemented a temperature measuring functionality to the device as this experiment was conducted in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic where temperature measuring was a crucial part of monitoring people.
